The Back Office with Vinay
In 2012, before we had a tech team, our second tech vendor was KuVi, a services company Vinay Kumar C started right after college.
Vinay was introduced to us by Renuka, who’s now an AVP on our support team. She said she had a friend who could take care of all our tech needs, from hosting our website to building our first CRM and pretty much everything else.
We said yes, partly because they were charging us just ₹15,000 a month. We were also among their very first customers😄
But as we started growing, unfortunately, KuVi didn’t. In 2016, Vinay shut it down and joined us, along with a few of his team members, including Sharath and Rocco.
I keep talking about Vinay to everyone at Zerodha. I’ve always felt he’s probably one of the most level-headed people in the business. Not just because of everything he’s done for Zerodha, but more importantly, because of how he handled the difficult decision to shut down something he had built.
I think how people deal with things when they don’t go as planned says a lot about who they are.🙂
